Switch The Switch is the 38th building and a mini-game in Stampy's Funland.
Overview[]
The game makes use of droppers, hoppers, and redstone comparators, all new items in Minecraft at the time. The area where the players are expected to play is set outside, but the redstone mechanism is enclosed in a room built at a distant height from the surface. Unlike his other mini-games, the redstone mechanism is exposed to allow the players to see the entire mechanism in action, as Stampy stated that it was cool to see for himself. On the ground is a one-block-deep pool of water with two single blocks where the players nerd-pole themselves with sand towards the lever.
On the other hand, the redstone is quite complicated but it is "relatively simple", as said by Stampy.
How it is played[]
The aim of the game is to light up the redstone lamps of your own colour. To do this, you and your opponent pile up using send towards the lever at the top, where you must "switch the switch (lever)" to dispense wooden planks on your colour. Your opponent also does this too, thus you are provided a diamond shovel and torches. The shovel is used to send your opponent downwards to prevent them from switching the lever. Your opponent does this to you too, and if you fall the way down towards the surface, you use your torches to immediately destroy the sand pile you have created to pile up again.
When the lever is switched on, the minecart is sent to the blue side and wooden planks are dropped to a furnace where a redstone comparator is placed in front of it to count how many wooden planks are in the furnace. 14 wooden planks are needed to gain enough strength of the redstone dusts to light up the redstone lamps of the blue side. If the lever is switched off, the minecart is sent to the red side with the same process as mentioned. The player who lights the set of redstone lamps of their colour wins.
Trivia[]
- Unlike other games (except Wiggly Worm, the redstone mechanisms can be seen because of the minecart going round and round that Stampy said that it was cool to see.
- Stampy planned this game for a very long time, while he was explaining what the game works.
- This is the first game to be used by the new redstone things, Dropper, Hopper and Redstone Comparator, all introduced on Xbox 360 in Title Update 19.
